A very successful day was held at the Adelaide Catholic Education Conference Centre to promote Career Development and Education Networks in Catholic and Department for Education Schools. These networks were facilitated by Helen Edwards, The Department and Jacqui Asser and Christine Slattery, Catholic Education SA. Approximately 55 people attended the Career Development and Education Presentation Day that was the culmination of a year-long project. 33 participating schools from both sectors undertook a school-based inquiry methodology to plan a whole school approach to career education.
A strength of the networks has also been the diverse areas of focus including PLP and STEM teaching & learning and the capabilities as underpinning the career development & education program across the schools. Links have also been made to existing career development frameworks such as the Australian Blueprint for Career Development and Career Education & Development Framework.
We were very pleased to host David Carney, Executive Director, Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) as the guest speaker who provided a national and global context for career development. It is recognised that productive partnerships between students, teachers, counsellors, families, schools, systems and industry is at the heart of quality career development.
The presentations from each school featured some of these important partnerships.
